July 4th & Our 3rd Anniversary

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

After all the fun of Stephen's birthday, we slept in on July 4th and then I got to work on ironing. It literally look me all day to iron and finish up a few chores - so that was fun. That evening we had plans to meet our friends at the local minor league baseball game. We were able to get tickets that included dinner and free hats! It was soo hot the first half of the game but the 2nd half was so enjoyable! Our Manatee's took home a win and we watched the fireworks before heading home.

We were total cheeseballs by not only matching but wearing matching Old Navy flag shirts!! lol I wanted something red to wear and when I heard they were $2.50, I couldn't resist

There was a big traffic jam trying to leave the stadium but it was cool seeing a ton of fireworks going off around us! When we got home, a lot of our neighbors were gathered at the end of the street lighting off fireworks. We Stopped by to see the last ones get fired off then we headed home and watched the NYC fireworks show on TV.

The next day was our 3rd Anniversary (and our first Anniversary we had to work :( ). After work, we did presents and ate leftovers (how romantic) before heading out for our big surprise date! I've had this surprise activity planned for 2 weeks and I can't believe I was able to keep it a secret! On our way, I let Stephen guess and he figured out that we were doing an Escape Room!! He was so excited! I have to admit, I got a little nervous because we couldn't reserve a whole room to ourselves so I had no clue who we'd be playing with. Thankfully, we were paired with a sweet family and we all had so much fun together!!

Came home to this! I used up all the bows, so Stephen made his own :)

Stephen's been wanting jack stands (and everything else) to rotate his tires so I finally caved lol

He got me a new monogram for my new car that I'll (hopefully) be getting later this year! So thoughtful :)

We did a Shipwrecked room and they had us working with the lights off!! It was so cool!! We started off with 3 flashlights and then you found clues that provided light throughout the game. We finished it with 5 minutes to spare!!

We had soo much fun and can't wait to do another one!!

One
Last night we attended a local minor league baseball game after work! Stephen's company has season tickets that they raffle off and we got a pair! It was so much fun and we can't wait to go back - it wasn't crowded, the weather was amazing and it was such a fun, family environment. I was worried we weren't going to get to go due to weather but thankfully, it held out until the bottom of the 9th when the game was tied. I see lots more games in our future...

Two
I made Jenn's Parm Herb Crusted Salmon earlier this and it was amazing! I awful at cooking fish on the skillet so I figured I'd give her oven recipe a try before writing fish off forever. It turned out so well and Stephen loved it too! I served it with lemon roasted broccoli and pearled couscous and Stephen requested it to be made with these exact sides next time lol

Stephen decided he wanted to wear a bow tie to the gala we went to last weekend to look a little more dressed up. I certainly didn't hesitate to agree and helped him pick out a formal bow tie at Nordstrom Rack (did you know they have amazing designer ties for cheap there!? He got some Michael Kors ties for $17 each!!). It took a few tries to figure out how to tie it but once he figured it out, there was no stopping him!! He claims that bow ties are way easier to tie than regular ties and he really likes wearing them which means, I have free reign to buy him all the cute, southern bow ties!! Anyways, the reason I'm saying all of this is because Southern Weddings recently released a line of bow ties and produced a how to tie a bow tie video this week. So if your man is considering a bow tie, send him this video and get to tying!!

I am excited because I'm finally getting my hair cut after 6 months... Usually every 2 months or so my hair gets way too thick and unmanageable, which is my sign it's time for a haircut. I hadn't noticed it getting too thick until lately and it's like I can't do anything with it - so I'm off to the salon to get it under control. I like that it's a little longer so I'll probably keep it the same length, just add some more layers, get the ends cut off and get it thinned. So ready for it to feel lighter.

I'm sure a lot of y'all follow Julia over at Gal Meets Glam. Recently she's been recapping their Italian and England adventures and this week she's been talking about the English Countryside. I am loving her English Countryside posts which is giving me travel fever. Everything is so charming and beautiful - reminds me of Pride and Prejudice. If only blogging was my job...

This weekend is going to be pretty low key. Stephen has a constant growing to-do list so I know he's ready to get things checked off which means I'll probably be embroidering things and watching Gossip Girl lol Today we actually have eye appointments which I'm kind of looking forward to because I haven't had an official eye doctor visit in like 15 years (so bad, I know). I've started to notice it feels like my eye sight isn't as good as it once was so I'm interested to see what my results will be.
