Weekending

This weekend was super productive - I feel accomplished and ready to take on the week! We thought Stephen was going to have to work Saturday but Friday night, he was called off which was great having the whole weekend together.

Friday night, our church hosted a ladies painting night which was so much fun! Since we just moved to this area and I work an hour away, it's been hard meeting new people so this was a fantastic way to meet ladies who go to our church and live around the area. We all had a great time painting Mermaids.

Saturday, I mowed the grass for the first time ever! I mean, I've hustled on the Hustler but this was the first time using a push mower and actually doing the full yard. It wasn't horrible, but I won't be begging to do it every week ;) I will need to get some better socks though; I don't think the pink tube socks will cut it every week...

After mowing, I ran over to the mall to get a few things and check out Old Navy's sale. I found this striped dress for $15 and couldn't pass it up. I think it's flattering and is the perfect transition piece for fall. Can't wait to pair it with a jean jacket and booties. 

I was also looking for some placemats and napkins to spruce up our table for my family's visit this weekend. I found some adorable placemats and matching napkins from Homegoods (can't find a link) and I can't wait to break them in this weekend!

After my mall visit, I finally finished Giuliana Rancic's book! I thought it was really good and I loved learning more about her life and reasons behind her decisions. It does have a lot of profanity, but it's still a great book.

Thankfully, I was able to get Stephen on board with planting some fall flowers for the front porch. I decided on one pot of yellow mums and one pot of orange mums. I can't wait for the buds to bloom and hopefully I won't kill them. We decided to only get one planter to make sure I don't kill the flowers, but I'd like to get another one for the other side of our front door. I'll definitely have to keep adding to my "fall" front porch when everything goes on sale.

Stephen actually found this planter - we thought it was neat and is perfect for fall (and was also $15!)

After church and the grocery store on Sunday, we worked on some things around the house which also consisted of me finally filling some picture frames and hanging pictures in my office. Having pictures finally hung in the office makes a huge difference!

I got 1 picture frame filled in our living room... I wanted 2 more but the way they had to be cropped wouldn't work

Threw this plaque up in our closet - we actually met over a pair of shoes ;)

I was also able to squeeze in making a garland tassel project for the first time as well. I'm really happy with how it turned out! Come back tomorrow for a tutorial!

This weekend is panning out to be pretty low key and I've been getting the urge to get back to working on the house. I noticed Lowe's is having a big summer sale on their outdoor planters and I really want to plant some fall flowers for our front porch. I still have to convince Stephen that planting seasonal flowers is a necessity ;)

I'm sure mine won't turn out as great as there but here are some planters that are perfect for fall!

I'm so ready to work on projects this weekend. We really need to hang pictures in my office, I'm going to start making some decorations for our company UF tailgate and then who knows what else I find for us to do ;) I would love to make a wooden pumpkin for the front door but I can see this turning into a much larger project than expected.

Early next week, we're expecting our first hurricane of the season (heck, the first hurricane in a few years) to hit us. It's supposed to be a category 1, so I'm not all that worried, granted this is the first time being an "adult" in a hurricane and owning a house. We'll see how this goes...

I'm excited because tonight the "young" ladies at our church are getting together for a canvas painting night. I'm looking forward to meeting some of the girls that live around here and hopefully make a few friends! (Basically all my friends either live an hour away in Orlando or don't live close to us)

Home Tour Tuesday | Office & Man Cave

We've finally made it to my last post about our new house! Just in time for fall to arrive ;) Stephen and I originally wanted a 3 bedroom house that we could grow into but after falling in love with our 4 bedroom house, we realized we were silly for wanting only 3 rooms. I was imagining a 3 bedroom house that we would soon have to move out of once we had 2 children in order to gain more room and have another bedroom for guests. Now that we have a bedroom dedicated to guests, and a house we won't have to move out of as quickly, I couldn't be more pleased.

I knew we'd need to use one room as our office and quickly decided that the other will be dedicated to Stephen. At our apartment, Stephen had a projector/computer setup in our living room as our main TV/computer source. It worked out amazingly but I was not about to have a chunky projector, screen, PS3 and computer tower crowding up our family room. Thankfully we were able to put this into one of the bedrooms and deem it Stephen's man cave. Both of these rooms need a lot of work as they're not at the forefront of our house decisions.

Honestly, there isn't much to my office. I have a few pictures that I need to hang this weekend and I need to find some curtains soon but other than that, I'm not sure what else to do. We want to have kids in a few years, and this room will be used as the nursery. There are so many great office ideas that I'd love to implement but I don't think it's worth buying furniture, only to get rid of it in a few years. My desk is from my bedroom set as a kid (aka our guest bedroom) so I'm a little reluctant to get rid of it but it might be best to get a sleek, cheap desk to drastically improve the room.

I plan on reupholstering the cork board once I figure out the "theme" of the room

Stephen's room is a little bigger than my office and the paint color is darker as well which makes it perfect for his video room. This room has also been deemed "the 1st child's room once the 2nd child is born and needs the nursery". #we'rebigplanners Stephen wants to build a nice screen for the wall and I'd love to add some more pictures/paintings to the walls at some point so it's not so empty. We also really need to add some sort of couch or love seat because me laying on the floor to play video games isn't working. I'm so thankful that we have this extra room to contain all of his tech-y items and make it his little getaway (and I can watch TV in the family room while he plays Battlefield with his friends). 

We'll get rid of the pillow at some point because it totally doesn't match and I think I want to hang the plane up on the wall

As you can see, we've got a lot of work ahead of us for these two rooms (and a few others) but it's fun slowly working on them!

Girl's Babymoon

This weekend my sister-in-law had a girl's babymoon at her grandparent's condo on the beach and it was a blast! I thought it was a great idea to have one last weekend with the girls at the beach (the boys played golf in Orlando) and it could not have been more perfect. There was lots of beach time, girl talk and trying to feel the baby move. Thankfully the weather was amazing, especially since there's a hurricane in the Atlantic and it stormed like nobody's business in Orlando.

To kick the weekend off, I met a friend for lunch on Friday and I got to meet her adorable puppy, Alice. She is about 3 lbs, is so tiny and is the sweetest thing!

After work, I headed out to the condo and met up with Lauren and her sister-in-law, Ashley (yes, there will be 2 Aunt Ashley's lol) We enjoyed catching up before eating dinner and taking a walk on the beach.

Saturday, we woke up and headed out to the beach. The water was crystal clear and the weather was gorgeous. After spending the day at the beach and pool, we headed out to dinner at Inlet Harbor which was a neat seafood restaurant with a bar on the water. 

I headed out early Sunday morning so I could make it to church with Stephen and the rest of the day consisted of yard work, naps and laundry. It was a great weekend celebrating Lauren's last few months before motherhood! Can't wait to meet my niece!
