Coffee Talk

If I were having [iced] coffee with you today, I'd say...

I still can't get over what's going on in Texas! I'm in utter disbelief of the flooding and how bad it can get. Ashley lives in Houston and has put together a list of ways you can donate. We decided to send diapers to the Texas Diaper Bank - they had a wishlist on Amazon which made it super easy and I don't have to worry about what percentage actually goes to the cause

I am not a fan of the new Taylor Swift song - sure it's kind of catchy but I'm pretty sure it's just the tune to "I'm Too Sexy". Also doesn't help that I'm not a fan of her at any stage of her career haha! However, I will say that girlfriend is a genius with her music video. There is so much detail in it and I want to know how everyone was able to find the things they did. You can find it all outlined here and here.

On Friday, I talked about how I was going to make this salad - well, I made it this week and it was not a hit... Let's just say we ended up having frozen pizza with it and I won't be making it again ;)
I work in the same area that I went to college so every day, I'm driving past my old townhouse/apartment and school. Well, school just got back in session and every time I think about starting a new semester and going to class, I get anxiety... #thanksengineering

I'm so excited because I'm so close to finishing up a big project I've been working on at work. Long story short but I'm putting together packages for our district offices and decided it'd be nice to give it a southern touch by handwriting all of the notes that go inside. I still think it was a good idea but 40 full page notes later and my hand is killing me... which is also the reason why it's taken me so long to get these done lol

Stone Wedding

Alright, this should be my last "catch up" post. The last week of July, I headed up to Atlanta for a week long business trip but at the end of the week, I drove up to my parent's house in Chattanooga. The evening I got up there, my dad had a business dinner so my mom and I went to dinner at Public House in downtown Chatt which was a super cool place! We had a great time and then came home to hang out with my dad before bed.

The next day, my mom and I went to get a pedicure and then we met my mom's college friends for lunch. It was great catching up with them and having lunch all together. Afterwards, my mom and I headed over to the mall and I found some great deals. After shopping, we met my dad at a new rolled ice cream place that was across from the mall. We probably shouldn't have eaten ice cream butttt we couldn't pass up the rolled ice cream since New York lol That evening, my dad grilled out and then we just relaxed at the house - my favorite thing :)

Saturday morning, we got up and dropped Frisbee off at the kennel - not before trying to get a cute picture with her but she wasn't having it ;) Then we tried to get a free tube of lipstick from MAC which was an absolute fail... not a fan of the company because they should've planned better. After that fail, we got some fun donuts for breakfast and headed out to Knoxville for our childhood friend's (the one who came with us to HHI) wedding.

It was great because my sister and her boyfriend drove down from Indy for the wedding (we all missed Stephen - he stayed behind because he thought he was going to have to work) so it was great getting to see her again! My mom and I ran to the outlets while everyone else played a round of golf before the wedding. The wedding was so beautiful - the venue was so neat and the bride was so gorgeous! We had to much fun spending time together and celebrating Daniel and Charlsey - we loved seeing everyone and danced the night away.

Too bad my sister wore flats... I look like a giant!

We're just missing Stephen!

We went to bed as soon as we got home because everyone had to wake up early so my parents could drop me off at the airport. It was a great weekend with my family but I was so ready to get back home to Stephen :)

Weekending

Before I get into today's post I wanted to saw how devastating it is seeing all of the destruction and flooding going on in Texas. Coming from a born and raised Florida girl, it's eye opening seeing what happens to other states when a hurricane like this hits. Texas will definitely be in our prayers.

This weekend was so nice - lots of fun and relaxing! Friday, I did a little work after I got home and then we got Chinese takeout and watched Popstar. The movie was eh - Hot Rod was definitely better lol It was nice to take it easy on a slow, rainy night.

Publix was killing it with their hydrangeas this weekend

Saturday, Stephen had to work so I slept in and then watched a few episodes of Southern Charm (I realized after I should've been ironing the whole time ;)). After I broke away from the TV, I cleaned the house and ran some errands. Stephen finally came home as the rain started (it was pretty rainy all weekend) so we spent the afternoon relaxing - Stephen worked on his latest project and I watched more Southern Charm. I'm hooked and already on Season 4 - I really home there are more seasons to come ;) That evening, two of my friends came over and we headed out to dinner while the boys went to see the fight. We came back after dinner for wine, desserts and a craft. We made chalk paint fall colored mason jars and had the best time - we were still chatting when Stephen came home at 1:30 am!! Never saw that coming lol!

I definitely need to up my selfie game

Sunday, we skipped church and listened to a sermon while we drove to North Orlando to meet my good friend's new baby. We had such a good time catching up and seeing her again - I'm used to seeing her every day at work. Baby Jack was so stinking cute! After we saw our friends, Stephen dropped me off at a baby shower for a co-worker's wife. It was a sweet, beautiful shower and I am so excited for the parents-to-be!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! You can bet I'm looking forward to a 3 day weekend next week ;) Linking up with Biana

Five on Friday

Once again, I can't believe we're at the last weekend of August and after this interesting week, I'm so glad for the weekend! I'm looking forward to a girls night while the boys watch the fight and then Sunday I get to see my work bestie and meet her new baby as well as attend a baby shower.

One
It seems like it happened forever ago but let's talk the eclipse!! This was so cool to see and even though we weren't in the path of totality, it was still so neat to see. A bunch of people at work ran outside to share glasses and watch the eclipse which was super fun to watch together. Definitely after seeing everyone's pictures and videos of true totality, I'm really excited to see ours in like 2048 ;)

Here's my terrible shot of the eclipse through the glasses

Even though we weren't in totality, it still got really dark in the office - it was so weird!

Two
I love this outfit for fall and even though it's going to be a long while before I get to wear these many layers, I'm thinking my new cardigan will finish out the outfit perfectly!

Three
Krista recently shared these blue lens glasses which help when you're looking at a computer all day. And since I have a weird thing with really wanting glasses but not needing them, I thought these would be perfect for work! My only thing is it looks like there's a pretty big blue tint to them so I'm not sure about that. However, I did see there's another brand that sells them and doesn't look like there's any tint. They're pretty pricey so we'll see but I thought they are pretty cool!
Four
This salad looks so delicious! I need to make this this week!

Five
If you missed it yesterday, I shared some of my recent finds while on my trip to Tennessee a month ago. My mom and I definitely had a very successful shopping weekend ;)

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Recent Finds

When I was in Tennessee with my family a few weeks ago, I did some great shopping with my favorite shopping partner - my mom. We did some shopping in Chattanooga and at the Pigeon Forge Outlets! One of the biggest deals I found was at the Lennox outlet store - I found my Kate Spade china set on sale for $22... that's right, $22 and originally it was $150 a set!! Anyways, I wanted to share the items I found since they're still available.

I found this adorable skirt from J Crew Factory and loved it instantly. I decided to pair it with a casual chambray shirt and these adorable shoes for work. I found the shoes on clearance at DSW for $12 - I couldn't pass them up!! And to my surprise, they're actually really comfy! I need band aids on the back of my heels but other than that, they're great! I also recently discovered that they are almost exact dupes for these Kate Spade shoes.

I also found this structured, bell sleeve shirt that I really like! I think it's a fun twist on the bell sleeve without being too in your face.

I snagged these fun, mirrored sunglasses at J Crew too! I love how these are different, yet are still tortoise. I decided to test out the ascot look and love how it turned out! The cutest lady stopped me at Publix to tell me how cute it was. This is my mom's ascot from J Crew earlier this spring but I found one similar here

I saw these socks were on clearance and since they had a tacky side on the back, I wanted to give them a shot because the ones I have usually fall down. I was excited when they didn't fall down once while we were at Disney!

While at the outlets, I decided to pop into J Crew again and found these wedges on sale for 50% off and have been looking for a cute pair of wedges that aren't too high. I got the tan color and not black but I'm really looking forward to wearing them more next spring/summer.

Lastly, I saw tons of pictures of the N-sale cardigan that everyone seemed to be buying. I ran into Old Navy and snagged this one which looks like a total dupe and for a lot less money. I love that it's very slimming, especially skinny jeans and I can't wait to be able to wear it in the fall :) My mom loved it so much, she bought one for herself and my sister!

I got into the habit of not shopping but that weekend had too many good deals to pass up ;) Linking up with Annie

My 26th Birthday

Even though it's been over a month since my birthday, I wanted to make sure it got documented on the blog because, you know, this is a digital scrapbook ;)

My birthday was on Sunday, July 9th, which was 1 day after we got back from our HHI vacation. Stephen kept asking me what I wanted to do and I couldn't decide - usually I would've said the beach or pool but we just got back from a whole week at the beach. Stephen never plans anything and usually never does surprise activities so you could imagine how happy I was when he told me he had the whole day planned out!! He did such a great job and made me feel so special the whole day!!

When we woke up, he told me we were doing an escape room over in Orlando, eating lunch, visiting Downtown Disney and watching the fireworks - all with our good friends! I was super pumped and so thankful our friends sacrificed an entire Sunday to drive all the way to Orlando to spend the day with us :) We realized that if we went to church, we would miss our escape room appointment so we listened to a sermon on the way over then conquered the Cuban Missile Crisis room - it was soo much fun!!

We worked up an appetite trying to escape so Stephen let me pick the restaurant for lunch - I decided on the Columbia over in Celebration. That place has such great Cuban food and our friends had never been there before. After lunch, we headed over to Downtown Disney for some shopping, walking around and of course, Ghirardelli's!

I got some surprise flan with a candle for my birthday :)

The Japanese store was having their one year anniversary party so they had origami and a "photo booth" with a ninja

After Downtown Disney, we wanted to show Josh and Elyssa the Magic Kingdom hotels so we took a bus to the Polynesian and walked around the Polynesian, the Grand Floridian and ended up at the Contemporary. We walked the outside stairs all the way to the roof and watched the fireworks to close out a great day!!

It was such a fun way to bring in 26 and I'm so thankful for everyone in my life and for those who made me feel so special!! Here's to 26!!
