Labor Day Weekend 2015

This weekend was one for the books - my parents drove down from Tennessee and spent the weekend with us at our new house! They've never gotten to actually stay with us before because our apartment had no space for them so it was a lot of fun getting to actually host them this time. They came in late Friday night and left early Monday morning.

Since they got in late Friday, we didn't get to do much other than show them the house. Saturday morning we all took a walk around the neighborhood and came back to breakfast casserole. We wanted to go to the beach but it was getting cloudy so we hit the mall instead. My goal was to find some things to decorate our TV console and living room table - it was a success! We got home in time before another storm came through and we were able to catch some of the UT game. That night, we had a delicious seafood dinner on the river at Grills.

I've been looking for something to hold the green balls for months and finally found this one at Hobby Lobby. So glad it fits perfectly!

Snagged this lemon plate for the kitchen

Finally got the TV stand decorated

I saw an orb like this at Kirklands for like $12, got mine at Homegoods for $8 and then found one at Hobby Lobby for $20. So glad I was able to get it from Homegoods.

We've been looking for a small globe for a while and found the perfect one at Kirklands - there are 3 other colors and it's only $12

My mom brought us this adorable monogram pumpkin from Kirklands. She also found these adorable mercury glass candle holders for her fireplace mantle

She also brought 2 Will and Kate books from their local used bookstore

Sunday morning we went to church (and became official members) and then headed out to the beach! We were pleasantly surprised that the rain held off and we were able to go to the beach and grill out. After the beach we were pooped, so we watched a movie and relaxed before getting the grill going. I made Christina's Caprese Garlic Bread for an appetizer again and it was a huge hit. We grilled out brats, hamburgers and corn and I made crunchy cole slaw and goat cheese mashed potatoes. We followed up dinner with smores on the grill.

Stephen loved his new toy and I loved the food!

The weather was perfect and for the first time, no bugs!

My parents left after breakfast Monday morning and we spent the morning cleaning and doing laundry. The rest of the day it rained, which made for the perfect lazy day!

Please ignore the fact that I have no makeup and my hair is a hot mess

We had a fantastic weekend and hope everyone else did as well! (I think we need to instate 3 day weekends every weekend). Since Labor Day is over, today is my official start to fall - can't wait to start decorating the house next weekend!
